Automatic deportation meaning :
In immigration matters, automatic deportation represents a severe measure issued by the Ministry of Interior. It typically applies to individuals considered a serious threat to national security or those who have committed a blatant breach of immigration laws. This procedure aims to protect the integrity and safety of the country by swiftly removing individuals deemed a potential threat.
When an automatic deportation notice is issued, the individual in question is informed of the decision to leave the territory within a specified period. At the same time, authorities are responsible for placing the person in detention pending their deportation. This detention may be carried out in a detention center or another facility that complies with laws and human rights.
In addition to deportation, individuals subject to an automatic deportation decision are generally prohibited from legally returning to the territory. The duration of this sanction may vary depending on the severity of the offense committed and the immigration policy in force in the respective country. It can be permanent or temporary, ranging from 3 to more than 10 years.
Etymology of Automatic Deportation
The term “automatic Deportation” consists of two words. It comes from the Greek “automatos,” meaning self-movement or action of one’s own will, and the Latin “deportare,” meaning to banish or exile. Legal professionals use this notion to explain the process of expelling an individual deemed persona grata from the country.
